So many people have migrated from one place to the next, making a new home away from their home of origin.
Childhood memories may include celebrations with family, learning new skills, hobbies, and more.
Dreaming of what you want to be or do as a grown-up can sometimes be a pastime in itself!
Krishana Johnson-James was born on the beautiful island of Barbados. She moved to Toronto, Canada with her parents at an early age.
Krishana has been an elementary school teacher for the last nineteen years. Key goals in her classroom include helping children grow a love for learning and literacy.
She enjoys learning new things each day and has a great interest in making a positive difference in the world. Krishana can help you to, "Plant your story. Grow a Legacy."
Her first children's picture book is called, There's No One Just Like Me!
Children will love the full-pages of colourful pictures, rhyming text, and
the empowering lines.
This story encourages the reader to see that they are special, unique, and have important life stories to tell, too!
Themes include celebrating your individuality, family, travel and moving, goal setting and dreams, and hobbies.
Children the world over should be able to see themselves in the books they read. I hope that my story will be meaningful to someone out there.
Are you curious about what inspired me to write and publish this book? If so, visit the blog post called, "A Twenty Year Journey" for the backstory.
This book would be a wonderful gift for young readers, teachers, non-profit organizations, and even those who wish to write and/or publish their own stories!
Well, the title says it all! Three cheers for being special, unique, and truly one-of-a-kind! This is exactly the message we want to teach our children—that there is no one just like them!
These days, we are seeing more books with affirming messages written for children. That’s certainly needed. So, when a book comes along that tells children a story that reminds them about individuality, dreams and purpose…
I feel happy!
There’s No One Just Like Me is one little girl’s story, but what I love is that it could be any child’s story. The author shares her story - where she grew up, her family, what she dreamed of as a little girl and what she ultimately became as a grownup. Young readers can follow her life and imagine their own, every step of the way. Did her dreams come true? Will mine?
I love how she shares something about different stages of her life from kindergarten through graduation, but along the way she reminds children, "You and I have a story that is different in every way! We are all very special and so each of us can say, 'Gosh, oh, gee! I’m as happy as can be! There’s no one else in ALL the world who’s just like me!'” (It’s very catchy! Kids will love it.)
The author is right. There is only one ME and there is only one YOU. This message encourages children to not only love and appreciate themselves, but to learn about and respect others and their life’s journey, too. I recommend this for story time, parents and teachers. It’s a quick, easy read, but I can definitely see some learning activities coming from this book. Get your copy today on Amazon!
